Another bank of support for Leuchie House

Staff and customers of TSB in East Lothian have chosen Leuchie House as the bank’s local charity partner for a second year running.

Respite centre Leuchie House will benefit from another twelve months of fundraising support from TSB branches in North Berwick, Haddington and Dunbar, adding to the amount they raised for the charity in 2016-17.

The TSB Local Community Charitable Partner scheme is designed to support the local economy around the bank’s branches. Members of the public are able to nominate the charity they think their branch should choose, then the bank’s staff select a winner from a final shortlist of three.

In the first year of the partnership from September 2016 to August 2017, the bank’s staff raised a total of £2,385 for Leuchie. This was the result of a wide range of fundraising activities including entering a staff team in the Total Warrior endurance event, plus a host of activities in the branches ranging from a ‘hike it or bike it’ day, to raffles to a book sale.

In addition one of the TSB team, Paula Blackie, took on five personal challenges to raise funds for Leuchie, inspired by her mum Maureen who works as a care assistant at the respite centre.  As a result she gave herself the challenge of completing four fundraising events in four months for Leuchie, including the Edinburgh half marathon, the Leeds triathlon, and the London triathlon, as well as joining the staff team for Total Warrior.

TSB manager for East Lothian, Derek Jardine said: “We’re delighted to be working with Leuchie House for another year to help support the amazing work they do. Leuchie is a very deserving local charity that makes a difference to so many.”

Commenting on the partnership, Lana Bambridge, Fundraising Development Manager at Leuchie House said: “We were thrilled to learn we had been chosen as TSB’s East Lothian charity partner. This type of corporate support is hugely important to Leuchie in lots of different ways. Clearly the money the branches are raising will make an enormous difference, helping us to provide essential breaks for people living with long term conditions. TSB’s support will also help us to make more people aware of Leuchie and what we do. This can really help to encourage others to get involved, perhaps as a volunteer, or even to fundraise on our behalf too. Crucially, it also helps us to reach people who could benefit from the service we provide, making sure they know we’re here if they need us.”

Since 2015 TSB branches have partnered with nearly 1,000 charities and good causes across the UK through the local community partner scheme.
