Guest engagement assistant

The role

Our activities, outings, and entertainment programme is one of the things which makes Leuchie House unique. A short break at Leuchie is much more than just a change of care environment for our guests. It's about trying new things, rediscovering old things, making new friends, having fun - everything a holiday should be.

As part of our guest engagement team, you'll help make each guest's break at Leuchie special. You'll help run in-house activities - everything from arts and crafts, to food tastings, to quiz nights, to walks in the Leuchie grounds. You'll accompany guests on outings to visitor attractions and places of interest across East Lothian and beyond. And when an extra pair of hands is needed to provide assistance to guests at mealtimes, you'll help out then too. 

While you don't need to have direct experience in the same kind of role, customer service skills would be ideal. You'll love working with people, putting them at ease, building a rapport and helping to get them engaged. You'll be creative and love to be hands-on. You'll also be mindful of different interests and ability levels, and be keen to make sure everyone can take part in some way and enjoy themselves.

Set in the beautiful East Lothian countryside beside North Berwick, Leuchie House is a national respite centre offering short breaks to people with a wide range of long term conditions including multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s. We cared for people with over 35 different conditions in 2017.

We enjoy a country house feel at Leuchie, rather than a clinical atmosphere, with the emphasis as much on social care as on health. 

The learning and development of our staff is crucial as we strive to deliver a wide range of opportunities and experiences. We are delighted to be an official partner of Queen Margaret University working together on health and social care, research and co-production.


This is a part-time permanent position working 30 hours every fortnight. 

Salary and benefits

  • £8.75 per hour
  • 35 days holiday entitlement pro rata
