About Leuchie House
This is a really exciting time to join Leuchie! We have gone from strength to strength since becoming an independent charity in 2011 and are now looking to the future.
Set in the beautiful East Lothian countryside beside North Berwick, Leuchie House is Scotland's only dedicated respite centre offering short breaks to people with a wide range of long term conditions including multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s.
We are committed to ensuring all our guests have a five star experience and every member of staff plays a part in creating the fun and positive country house feel that is central to that.
Our focus is as much on social care as on health, ensuring that every guest has the chance to take part in the kinds of things that will make their break special.
The learning and development of our staff is crucial. We provide full support and training to all new members of staff through a comprehensive induction programme. And with further ongoing training provided, a positive and friendly approach is the first thing we look for in candidates.
Leuchie’s general assistants play an important part in creating the welcoming, friendly environment Leuchie House is known for. The main focus of the role is to help our guests at mealtimes, making sure they have all the support they need. You'll provide eating and drinking assistance at breakfast or evening meal times, and on the evening shift you'll also help our guest engagement team with our activities and entertainment programme. This is a very social role where you'll chat with and get to know Leuchie's guests, helping deliver the warm, person-centred support that makes each guest's respite break enjoyable and memorable. A varied and interesting post, you'll work with colleagues in our operations and guest engagement teams.
If you haven't worked in this type of role before, we'd still love to hear from you. A friendly, caring, person-centred approach is one of the most important things we ask of our general assistants. Through our induction and training process, we'll make sure you get all the support and skills you need to deliver the five star service Leuchie is famous for. In return, we can offer you a great package of benefits, a special place to work, and a chance to be a light in the lives of people living with long term conditions.
This is a part-time permanent role working 28 hours each fortnight. These hours will be split between four hour shifts: 8am-12 noon and 5.15-9.15pm.
